"Models"
As I sit here, flipping through a magazine
That was mailed to me for no apparent reason
Other than to pry money from my wallet
I see pretty girls, bright colors and perfume samples
Everyone beaming with confidence
The gossip, fun and engaging
But then I look beyond
And think a little deeper
I now see materialistic women
Who are photo shopped
to look perfect and visually appealing
Whose bodies are literally transformed
from a realistic standard to a fake one
And appear so unhealthy that sickness could be a day away
These women’s job title is a “model”
How are young girls supposed to look up to these “models”
When they are starving themselves
to keep their job
Young women have a great desire to be like them
These are not the women I want my daughter looking up to someday,
Are they yours?
