Death Is
Ever the unwelcome visitor,
Death refuses to leave our company.
He hangs around long after the light has drained from the sky,
And everyone has gone.
His presence disturbs, yet he remains impassive;
The silent observer, the fly on the wall.
We keep the light on, a plea to dissuade him,
But as sure as the sun, Death is - and Death comes.
With the last minutes of the day ticking to a close,
We find solace in our reflection from the bathroom mirror,
But the inevitable face of Death stares back.
