Finding Ourselves
I don’t understand why they put this pressure on me.
Don’t they realize how hard it is?
Walking through those hallways every day;
The vultures are glaring down at you with their beady eyes
Burning holes into the back of your head.
The clique of girls rushes past,
Gossiping into their petite little hands and
Laughing at the one who sits in the corner while she
Slices her wrists with the kitchen knife.
We all struggle with these things.
We beat each other down.
Why can’t we build each other up?
Wouldn’t it be so much easier if we actually helped each other out every once in a while?
But no, we can’t do that.
We can’t break past these barriers that keep us apart.
We’re separated, with millions of miles of space in between us.
Yet somehow,
We are together.
We’re connected.
Feeling the same pain,
The same love.
Just trying to find ourselves in this place.
