Don't Grow Up, It's a Trap
Born with No worries- No ideas- No fears
Sleeping in the arms of your mother and father
 Held close to their hearts
 First birthday—time flew by
 Second, third, fourth, fifth birthday
 Tickle me Elmo
 Barbie dream house
 race car rug
 Now six years young
About to begin school: the next thirteen years of your life
Putting that backpack on your shoulder and kissing your parents goodbye at the bus stop
Taking a deep breathe, stepping on, and looking for a seat
Pigtailed girl waves you over and you made your first friend
 Seven, eight, nine, ten,
When daddy is still a superhero and you still want to cuddle with mommy
 Eleven, twelve, thirteen
Middle schooler now—obviously cooler than you
 That awkward age
Who am I?  Who do I want to become?
Making a Facebook status every time you blinked
Those cringe worthy hair cut you reminisce in pictures
That outfit you thought you looked awesome in
 Fourteen, fifteen
 High school
 Parents are lame
 Sleep. Eat. Sleep. Eat
 Or don’t eat
 Girls’ shouldn’t be fat--I can’t be fat
That’s what society tells girls to do
 Right?
One carrot and a cup of water at dinner
 Water for dinner
 Nothing for dinner
Looking back, I wasn’t as fat as I thought I was
 I wasn’t as ugly as I thought
 I wasn’t as boring as I thought I was

 Childhood innocence
Only to look back at photographs
A canvas of your innocent time
 The best time
Taken in a blink of an eye
Don’t grow up sweetheart its a trap
