Freak
They look,
And they stare,
As if I am some kind of freak,
because I am one
They point,
And they laugh,
Because of the clothes on my body,
The hairstyle on my head,
And the way I talk
I say to myself:
Is it time to go yet?
No,
It’s not,
You have to stay here angel,
You have to stay and help the people who are like you,
You have to be someone’s shoulder for them to cry on,
Because if you don’t
Then who will?
How do you expect them to survive,
If you can’t even save yourself?
Am I good enough?
I don’t know,
But I do know that you need to keep trying,
You need to pick yourself up,
Brush the hair out of your face,
Clear those tears,
And be the best person you can be
I know it’s hard for you to be you,
I know--
Because I’m still in the process,
I’d always say,
“Maybe they’d like me if I wore pink.”
“Maybe they’d like me if I act that way”
Maybe this, or maybe that,
No,
Don’t do that to yourself,
Don’t change yourself,
Because the whole world could hate you,
But I know someone who will always love you,
Whether you are far away,
Close by,
Sad,
Or happy,
But,
I can tell you one thing,
I still love you.
