Split
I'd like to be a lamb
with fleece as white as snow
unstained and clean before the world.
But questions and wonders
make that very hard;
and it rips my very soul apart
as I wallow away in tears.
What is right and who is wrong?
Who are we to say?
Thinking condemnation — do I damn myself?
Or is agreeing with the crowd the greater sin?
Please don't think
I mean to curse or hate you;
I wish you all the highest good,
that I truly do,
but who is sinning, me
or you?
Because THEY say one thing
while THEY scream out another
Deep-held devotedness,
and long-valued ideas
warring against each other
as the world looks on.
I don't want to hate you,
never think I do,
but who is sinning, me
or you?
