Today I Saw
Today I saw
Faith in humanity restored
Society has lost its meaning
Our world no longer cares
Today I saw
Little baby ducks
Running across the busy road
We all stopped our cars
In fear of hitting them
They waddled away afraid-
Everyone kept driving on
Today I saw
A disgruntled cliché
Misunderstood teenage boy
Torn clothes-lost hope
The teacher praises him in class
He glowers for that one moment
Today I saw
A single mother
The one I see every morning
Walking in-between her little boy and girl
Taking them to school
Walking hand in hand-
Against all odds
Today I saw
A homeless man
Cold and frigid from life
A cardboard sign in hand
A hint of truth exposed
“Money for my addiction?”
Today I saw
Society’s cage; the overlooked moments.
