The Few Things
A roof over my oddly shaped head, brick and cement protecting my health
A warm bowl of nourishment, full of vitamins and minerals
A mattress layered with feathered blankets, slowly suffocating me to dreams
A glass of the most abundant and scarce resource on Earth, something one takes for granted
These are a few of the things I am thankful for.
The friends I interact with very day, giving me laughs every day
The instructors and advisors that teach us, opening up new worlds in the classroom
The feel of the cool grass under my feet, the cheers of a leather ball flying into a woven net
The language I play on black and white, a poignant, ethereal story with sounds coming to life
These are a few of the things I am thankful for.
The sight of a wagging tail as soon as I come home each day, exhausted yet jubilant
The words of wisdom handed to me every day, by a compassionate and caring mother
The silent slivers of advice shared with me, by a considerate and unwavering father
A sense of unity, a bond of community, and a feel of love, emanating from our home
These are all the things I am thankful for.
