The Dreams
On my own or with my friends,
My mind shuts down but then it bends.
I see the spears, blood and pain
Their faces show.
My thoughts are stained.
She walks around the corner,
A spear in her chest.
He runs around the track,
A knife in his head.
I blink just once,
The image gone.
I want to hide and escape,
But school work calls,
I can’t be late.
In class I just can’t memorize,
The facts just can’t be learnt.
A break from life and nightmare,
This break have I not earned?
I want to leave,
I want to be free,
I want to escape the horrors that I see.
Just one thought that triggers a dream,
A dream that creates the only thing that can make me scream.
I’m not old,
I haven’t lived through a war.
But the things my mind makes,
The peace that it takes.
The thought,
The scenes.
The images,
The dreams
