Fire in the Rain
It was raining
the night
you left
my tears
disguised by
the mist
you wouldn’t
smile for me
not even
one
last time
If I knew
that the rain
would have fallen
so hard
I never would have
stayed outside
for so long
letting it
soak me
leaving me
cold
so cold
I wish
the rain had
washed away
the pain
But it is raining
now
I see
your face
in the reflection
on the
windshield
But life goes on
Even when
you’re not
in it
The rain
brings pain
but I have learned
to love
the dull ache
in my chest
It’s all I have left of you
And I
miss you
when you’re gone
but time has past
I can’t help
but feel
better
now you’re away
Your love was
a fire
that burned hot
when I
got too close
I guess
that’s why
I love
these invisible
scars
on my
heart
you’ve left your mark
on me
and you
don’t even know
But I can’t
hold back the
tears
anymore
my mascara
runs down
my cheeks
yet I know it’s
what’s best
for me
so even if
you come back
I won’t
be there
to welcome
you home
I’m sorry
so sorry
but this
hurts me
more
than it will
ever hurt
you.
