Just a Dream
Warmth from heavy blankets pulled up to my chin, and pillows piled high.
Moonlight is shining through the window panes. Sleep for the morning comes fast.
Laying there with eyes wide open, looking around the room, glancing at every eerie shadow dancing across the walls. A squeak echos through the room as a mouse scamper across the floor. It’s just a dream.
The wind howls outside the window, and branches scrape the house.
A whisper comes from outside the door, then laughter and a knock. Who is it? What do they want? The sound fades away. It’s just a dream.
Eyes become tired, its time to sleep. Concentrate on nothing and let it all slip away until…
The open book slides from the bed, to the floor.
