The Crow
The beautiful black bird
Sat hungry upon her perch.
A chunk of yellow caught her eye.
Just a small piece of cheese
Just enough for her.
She cast open her great
Wings and scooped up the
Cheese in her slender beak.
Padding feet sounder below
Her and stopped as she rested
In a great willow.
Fox down below spoke with
Such charming words in a
Tongue made of silver.
Crow ruffled her feathers in
Embarrassment. She let out a
Caw and the cheese fell.
Straight into the wide maw
Of Fox. He bowed to Crow
And vanished leaving her
To cry in hunger
