Elusive
a glittering shape running down a damningly white hall
airy laughter bouncing across the limitless space fading with a charming decrescendo
an unfamiliar jolt of exhilaration pumped through my veins
my fingers shivered with the tantalizing realization
i see her speed effortlessly increase as her laughter pounded in my head scraping away at my subconscious as i desperately try and regain the upper hand
i push myself hard against the nonexistent ground all is silent as if adrenaline blockaded my ears
i vaguely recall the uneven tempo of my breath as my frustration grows due to my incompetence
my foot taps against the cool gray blue tiles as my mind races
the sour taste of metal spreads across my tongue while my nostrils are assaulted by the scent of stale rubber while i nibble pensively on the end of my pencil
suddenly i am encased in the detail of this figure i am unnerved by the insincere manner in which she floats taunting me as if she knows something i will never understand
the blisteringly white light begins folding in on itself the darkness absorbs her and then it's like i didn't see her
my fists clench tight my splintering nails dig into my flesh as the realization settles in like a haughty beast in my chest
the idea i had in sight has escaped fleeing my memory like a prisoner with a wealthy arrogance that leaves a bitter taste in my mouth
