Poem for a Dead Plane
Almost just a metallic dot of white, high up in the cold winter sky
You make a heinous noise, somewhere between a scream and a moan-
It accompanies your tail of smoke nicely
The people inside still cling to you for comfort and seem to pray
To appease you, bribe you to let them live-
But don't they know? You fear death just as much as they do.
From so far away on ground I see your spirit wilt a little
Because you know there is no hope, and I know there is no hope,
And I wonder if the people onboard are still praying for hope
And suddenly, you are gone in a monstrous ball of fire,
Lighting up the early morning. The prayers for peace answered,
Lives now lived, dispersing into smoke in a quiet atmosphere
Now your parts and your passengers parts will fall
With the snow- Like the snow-
To the unvirgined earth below, bloodstained from past events alike
