"Hell is empty, all the devils are here."
"It is not in the stars to hold our destiny, but in ourselves."
"Bring the drugs baby I can bring my pain."
“I would challenge you to a battle of wits, but
I see you are unarmed!”
"Darling you'll be okay."

I feel trapped,
the walls keep closing in.
I'm drowning,
the waves keep dragging me deeper.
I can't breathe,
I'm dying.
But then I see a light,
something lifts me up to the surface.
I can breathe.
That one magnificent moment,
though sometimes short, is wonderful.
I'm free.
Free from my past,
free from my sorrows,
from my pain.
I can breathe.
Then another wave comes,
and it takes me even deeper.
It's an ongoing battle,
between the viscous waves,
and my resistant buoyancy.
All I can hope,
is that maybe,
just maybe,
One day I'll float to the surface,
and stay.
I will stay free.
I will win this war.

I've struggled with depression for a few years, and I wrote this to describe how I feel.

This is beautiful. I hope you are proud of overcoming your struggle this far. I face the same problem with depression and reading this has inspired me to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you and please continue to write.
