If you think education is expensive, try a little stupidity.

Pebbles fly up against my flanks,
hitting my clammy skin like tiny bullets.
Can’t feel my legs, just the propulsion and
my hocks quivering upon every trot.

My skin was raw.
I was running, scared.

All alone.

Flashing before me brilliant lights
intense, blues and yellows.

The sound accompanying them alone could violate your mind into instanity.

Nature could destroy you.

Amidst the quiet air, foreboding
you would land again and feel gravity crushing impact
It blasted right behind me again, my pupils dilate

and nostrils flared at the scent of sulfur penetrating the air.

I figured: let the light engulf me.

I don't know how long I ran. Too long

An explosive flash too near...

life flashed before my eyes and everything was in slow motion.

I remembered.
I remember everything that I’d ever forgotten in my conscious mind...

The words said to me, the dreams I’d had, my failures, my successes...

Everything returned in an instant.

And I realize that I’m on the ground,

Mane singed and steaming

Numb.

Mind slows and vision fades to black. Pale grains of sand encrust my eyelashes.

the surf crashes over my hoof

Leaving behind a phantom chill.

I hear my heart beat in my ears, a steady ring. is intensifying

My heart tightens and seems to hold

but I cannot struggle.

I blank.
At that moment... We know death.
