"I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don’t let anybody tell you different." - Kurt Vonnegut

Moths fly toward the light
Because they are trying to
Change their direction of flight
In order to travel in as straight a line
As possible
To see the moon so that they can fly
North.
When they hit an
Artificial light
They spiral downward and fall

I’m a lot like a moth
I think
I am always trying
To find home and I’m always
Falling flat
On my face for no other reason
Than because I think
I found
It

The author's comments:
I've always had this deep well in the pit of my stomach that has consistently felt like something missing. Ever since I can remember, I've wanted to be 'home' even if I was already in my house. My brother died three years ago and this pit has been growing bigger and bigger ever since. I also love bugs - I consider them animals - and I relate to them in many ways. That was my inspiration!

What a great poem.  I love how you used the moth to relate to your own feelings of being lost.
