Daddy's little girl
My little girl,
all grown up,
your still daddy's little girl,
no matter how old you are.
My little girl,
do you remember how we went fishing every weekend?
Or how I painted your nails in front of all of my friends,
despite all of their snickering and stinging comments.
We had tea time everyday at noon,
at night we would chase fireflies underneath the smiling moon.
I would read you Sleeping Beauty when it was bedtime,
I smiled when I seen you dragging your teddy bear down the hall, blue eyes fighting against sleep.
My little worker,
always ready to help me fix anything,
when I was changing a tire on my car, you came over with pleading eyes asking if you could help.
My little angel,
already a teenager,
already thinking that I wasn't cool anymore.
Already going on dates,
too soon for me.
Too soon for me to trust some boy I don't know with my daughter's life.
My sad little girl,
I know it hurts,
a broken heart hurts a lot,
the guy was a jerk,
if I could get away murder,
I would hurt those who hurt you,
but for now I hold you in my arms,
and together we will mend your heart.
My precious girl,
don't you remember all the fun times we had?
Just because it's my time to go,
just remember you are and always will be, my little girl.
Daddy's little girl.
