Savages
Stark ash in the center; cloud my lungs.
Empty my blood before they have the chance;
I’d rather you take my limbs in your poison
Than be stomped to death in their wild dance.
Any onlooker wouldn’t have thought so;
They are a gentle breed to those unknowing.
Wait until you stumble into their bloody lair!
Fangs which only emerge in smiles full-showing.
I spoke to their King, a burly man,
More rugged than handsome at all;
He kissed my hand with his dirty lips
And threw me into their murderous brawl.
I clawed at the soil which became my home;
I bit into the shoulders of my new foes.
I watched them laugh and point and shout
At my struggle against the throes.
Your monstrous voodoo! Your ga-ga-goo-goo;
I yell so a figure may comprehend.
My calls of mercy go unnoticed
As I am thrown into their pit again.
No more, no more; I will not be cut.
I claw my way to the Superior’s demise;
Flabbergasted as they are, they look on in shock
As before them I rise,
I rise.
