The Favoured One
It was bleak outside,
 Same inside;
 I quivered at the thought of life,
 It starved the life out of me,
 I was scared of the endless strife.

 It didn't seem an easy ride,
 Surely a heavy stride;
 I bounced and bumped through the lonely road;
 Unable to see the light,
 It was a road which no one strode.

 Was there light at the end of the tunnel?
 Was it worth this grave dismay,
 The thought that I was all alone;
 In the dark austerity of the tunnel,
 The candle light was blown.

 I tripped and turned in the walk of life,
 The tunnel seemed like eternity;
 I thought I had inched closer to the light,
 But I was far away from purity.

 Why this threat, why this fear?
 Why this unending difficulty?
 What have I done to be cursed such?
 Was I short of fidelity?

 I didn't give up,
 I was scared to give up,
 Not having another go,
 I walked and walked and walked and walked.
 Unaware of where I was headed to.

 After that nerve racking journey,
 I made it to the light,
 The tunnel had ended,
 So had the passed,
 life seemed bright.

 As I reached the end of the road,
 Thee was a pool of life,
 As I squatted to taste the life,
 I heard an astounding roar:

 It was you,
 You for sure,
 You were the favoured one,
 The hardships and dismay had been
 Just a test of the almighty one.
