I am a female hunter.
I wonder where to hike each day.
I hear the elk call my name.
I see them leap in the clouds.
I want the biggest buck.
I am a female hunter

I pretend to be the toughest.
I feel like a warrior.
I touch the coat of a beast.
I worry I may fail.
I cry when people disrespect the forest.
I am a female hunter.

I understand that I am a provider.
I say it is important to respect the wildlife.
I dream that people would understand hunting.
I try to set a good example.
I hope people care about my actions.
I am a female hunter.

The author's comments:
I wrote this "I am" poem because I love hunting and it is a huge part of who I am.
