Guardrail
Shimmering, glowing, and ever moving, the ocean blues reflect the cloudless sky
Various sea animals live underneath its protective surface
Rocks line the shore, keeping the inhabitants in and the enemies out
Walking along the grass, I admire the ease of the ocean water lapping against the rocks
I marvel at the the ducks swimming about and how the sun reflects off the aqueous surface
I wish I could dive in the ocean and swim away, leaving behind all that is evil.
But I can’t.
I can only look out at the sea from behind a protective guardrail.
The industrial gray contrasts with the harmonious blues
Like a single white rose in a garden of red.
It reminds me that the world I live in is cut off from the world I desire.
