Somber Black Ink
Quills dip in the somber black ink
as penmanship illuminates words.
Simple quills convolute parchment.
Efficiency is on its way.
Correspondents call for action—
Wait, the penmanship’s absent,
so are the trees the Cumberland Road took.
The people marvel, amazement ascends.
Souls crash onto the shore—
Typewheels fly across the paper,
ideas and thoughts of thoughs are coming,
through the keys of the authors tool
Black gold brings dimes of altruism.
The luminousness desk is brilliant.
Eckleburg watches, as light speeds by,
Novels are now accomplished.
Punch the keys!
for feelings imbed in the carbon.
Be the next Hemingway—
For the permanency of the influential words. ¬
