“Did you take your pills this morning”
With the loss of appetite
the desire to live
had vanished from
within
all of these signs
none of which may
explain the endless pit
of blackness, the void
with the millions of slithering
snakes winding around
my rib cage like the thorns
on roses
Medicated on pills
and empty hopes
the tidal waves of
antidepressants
Fluoxetine
Sertraline
this sour taste will
never be erased
All of the cruel side effects
Fill the empty classrooms during summer break
Movement disorders,
agitation,
improper bone development,
blurred vision
Drowsiness,
drop in blood pressure,
rapid heartbeat
Irregular heart rate,
may cause thoughts of suicide,
death
May cause increased risks of breast cancer but
may prevent brain cancers
Causing cognitive decline. Abnormal bleeding.
Stroke. Death
Death
Death.
