Lone Cowboy
The strong dust kicks up in southern Amarillo
A man and horse ride side by side
Never resting and experiencing the long ride
Trying so hard just to get by
A failure stings in his heart
As this cowboy’s love for the rodeo starts to depart
He can not let go of what use to be
Wishing to go back in time so badly
He still sees the vision of bright lights
Crowds cheering endlessly all night
He was the main attraction
Until he started to run
Away from the fortune and fame
Terrified of failure and having a bad name
He let fear control his heart
Until it finally tore him apart
Working hard to get back to the show
Hours upon hours of training only wanting to be a real hero
Dreaming of this chance since a little boy
Hard work becomes his only sense of joy
There is more than just a passion stirring inside
He laid in the dirt and began to cry
Conquering his fear of the unknown
Only scared of what he could become, but still feeling alone
He fights this battle everyday
Until finally he gets on his knees and starts to pray
Conquering fear can sometimes be hard
When the race put in front of you is a challenge
Finally a letter in the mail
The cowboy gets a second shot of leaving a legacy and sharing his tale
As he rides his horse back to his fear
The bright lights and cheers are ever so near
The cowboy left his legacy that night
Showing that hard work does pay off
The crowds cheered like never before
The cowboy’s confidence started to soar
After the rodeo he hit the floor
Accomplishing everything and more.
