Where I Am From
I am from the multiple colors in the festival every year
From the joy in carnival
From The Cha Cha Cha and Folklore on the dance floor
I am from the fireworks and firebomb
From the dark world among us
From a family that can change on you faster then seasons
A family that isn’t afraid of blood nor it’s curse
From countries that were enslaved
From “Nuestro país o muerte, venerators’’ y “Union Fait La Force”
From Havana and Port-au-Prince
From Jose Marti and Jean Jacques Dessalines
From equality, Fraternity, and Freedom
My tears are for the lost ones
My joy is for the present
Do what thou wilt is my Philosophy
Happiness is my discipline
