Ode to canine

Oh dog, you bring great joy to my life.
With your floppy ears and wagging tail,
You greet me with excitement each we meet.
Every morning when I wake, every night when I retire,
And every time I return home, you never fail to welcome me.
Your playful ways can brighten a day.
You'd protect me if necessary, but you wouldn't hurt a fly.
The most loving creature of them all,
The most loyal of all things loyal,
No wonder you're known as man's best friend.
