The Little Voice
Fear was all the young boy had known
He had run away from home at the age of five
Because he couldn’t take living without his mother,
And living with his drunken, abusive father.
It had now been fifteen years since he had been on his own
But still he feared that one day his father would find him, and
Take him back home and do nothing but beat him
He feared every time he went out, constantly looking over his shoulder.
All he ever felt was fear until one day a small voice from inside
Said: Never fear anything or anyone; I will always be here for you
And for some strange reason he trusted that little voice, and never again
Not even once looked over his shoulder again.
