Forgotten
We were buds
Inseparable
As kids
Laughing, talking, playing
Never ending grins
But then you went away
So, so far
Half a world away
Years passed
We got older,
Made new friends and memories
Then you came back to me
I was ignorant
Believing you would be the same
I was wrong, so so wrong
You weren’t the same little boy
I had known,
Had spent years with
As friends
But I’m not that same little girl
You had known
Had spent years with
As friends
We had become teenagers,
Lost in expectations
You had forgotten,
Forgotten all the times we had,
Together
Our smiles
Our laughs
Our games
Our joy
Your eyes no longer remember me
No longer a friend
Only a stranger
But I still remember
I remember the landing made of lava
Your house, your face
Your smile
I clung to the memories
My childhood lifeline
But you let go
Forgetting our friendship
Our childhood bond
Broken
Beyond repair
I expected my friend back
But now I just want
The time back
