Faithful Midnight Rain
That faithful
midnight rain
has it's way
of
causing me to
miss you
ever
so
dearly
and still I wonder
through the nights
(pitched with
silence
and
that faithful rain)
if you still remember
still long
still think
of
me
did you push me away
from your
dear
memory?
Push me away
from your
dear
memory
as you've done
to everything
you
love?
Do you even love?
Have you ever loved?
Never have you
touched
with you dear heart
anything
real
beyond your defense.
That faithful rain
how it puts you to shame.
Dear it stay close—
closer than you.
But still it falls
falls as you do
far away
from
anything
it ever
could have
known
to be true
And still I wonder—
if you had stayed,
would all the lies,
that you had laid,
blossomed up
from this rain
that
faithful
midnight
rain
