Tears are the blood when the heart is wounded. -Wisterind

Burn, burn, let the memories burn
Turn them into ash and dust
Banish them from the world in which they churn
Wipe them away with a single gust

Watch every harsh memory wither and shout
Keep the fire going for an eternity
Watch the flames twirl and dance about
Murder the taunting community

Quench the thirst, the want to avenge
The others think they know, but don’t understand
Bring forth the heat, leave nothing to scavenge
Finally will I be released from their torturous command

So many lost wars I have fought
Engulf those images in white-hot flames
Happiness and peace was what I sought
Now they are only pointless names

So burn, burn
Let the painful memories burn

The author's comments:
This was written when I was going through a rather dark period of my life involving some pretty painful experiences. It's about how certain memories, though it may be full of light and happiness, brought such grief that I just wanted to burn them all to ashes. It's sort of a dark poem, but that just reflects the dark emotions I was feeling at the time.
