Lost in Life
Walking down the aisle
staring at the rows of books.
I close my eyes and grab one.
Will it be mystery? Adventure? Romance?
I open the cover.
A whole new world is right before my eyes.
A world of perfection.
The sun is shining, streets are clean,
even the people are “perfect.”
Everyone has perfect teeth,
perfect hair,
perfect clothes,
but are their attitudes towards life perfect?
Turning the page, a new street lies before me.
One full of darkness and hate.
People have rags for clothes,
tangled, dirty hair,
some without teeth,
At first glance nothing about them is perfect.
I turn the page.
Yet another scene lies before me.
Which do I believe.
I am truly lost in life.
