my heart starts to pound as we get closer
i can feel the adrenaline building up in my veins
i race out and onto the ground
the sweet, soft, beautiful ground that i call home
although the anticipation of this moment has kept me awake for days, i am suddenly filled with enough energy to run a marathon
my heart swells with love as i kneel down and kiss the soil
i stand up and it take it all in
the trees
the mountains
the sky
this is where i belong
and suddenly there are tears threatening to stream down my face
i can feel a sharp pang of negativity creeping into my heart
how could such a beautiful place be filled with so much conflict
how could anyone ever want anything for this place but peace
how could anyone want to take me and my sisters and my brothers away from our home
this is where we belong
this is where we will stay
my emotions turn from sadness to sureness
i will never be taken away from here again
i will never allow my home to be destroyed
this will be a place of hope and not despair
