This is Who I Am...This is Who I Was
Restless nights
Tiresome mornings
Long days with stretched out hours
Torn and damaged heart
Broken and shattered dreams
Confused and conflicted soul
A voice that no longer sings freely
Worked up and stiffened muscles
And a tiresome body and eyes
That just wish to let go and relax
A will to fight
But a wanting to let go.
A ability to forgive all
But a need to forget it all
Someone who has seen a lot
But forget as little
Eyes that seen many die
Before they even reach the end
Emptiness in the heart and soul
Even after the pain goes away
The feel of loneliness
Even when others are around
This is who i am….
Nights spent talking to the moon
The morning sun bringing a smile to my face
Days full of real smiles and laughs
A naive and bleeding heart
Hopeful and full of dreams
Strong with a fighting soul
A voice that sung loud and free
Stiffened muscles
Restful body and painless eyes
A will to fight
And never give up
A ability to forgive all
But want to forget
Someone who is naive and fragile
Believing nothing bad will come to the ones I love
The eyes that never feared to see the world
And everything I believed it to be.
Eyes that were blind
To the dying right in front of me
A heart full of stupid, naive love
A heart that believed love was painless and magical
A compassionate and open heart
That allowed all to come in.
A heart that wanted to fill up all the loneliness I felt when it was left to itself
Loneliness
Even then I felt it
Even when others are around.
The feel of being lonely
Even when you were with the people you loved.
This is who I was
And sometimes
I wish
It was who I am
