Two Hearts Beating

The safest place in the world
Is in his arms.
A kiss from his lips,
Say “I love you.”
Hands on my waist
Head on his chest.
We lay there
Two hearts beating.
Two lines show
On that little white stick.
Tears from me,
Screams from him.
He walks out the door
I’m left with this little person.
I put my hands on my stomach
Two hearts beating.
My stomach grows bigger
Just like my motherly love.
A sharp pain,
A drive to the hospital.
Eighteen hours
Screaming and crying.
Finally I hold my baby girl
Two hearts beating.
