Complications
Dear mom:
You always said,
"Every problem has a solution."
But life isn’t that easy, or
straightforward.
Memorizing a book of anatomy will
not help you navigate the corridors
of anybody’s mind
And there is no formula for filling
in x and y in order to understand
me.
I came to you and told you all my
problems,
And you turned your eyes to heaven
above and said,
"Every problem has a solution."
Maybe I’m over-complicating things,
But I know that when poetry comes
out of my mouth
It goes through a filter in your
mind and you can’t fathom it.
And that’s alright
But let me tell you this:
Sometimes I feel that I want you to
understand me and leave me alone,
simultaneously.
You told me that every problem has
a solution,
But life isn’t that easy.
I wish it was.
