dope days
I couldn't go home alone again
with lingering angel dust visions
and frightening static tones of loneliness
so I stopped at your bloodhound house in the middle of the woods
in the middle of the wet night
you were asleep on the couch and the TV was on but the lights were off
I saw needles from CVS
under the cushions
and Suboxone wrappers in your mother's slippers
a day ago she gave you four hundred dollars to pay off your parole officer
instead you took me to this motel
we showered together
you said you never did before
and I fell asleep with soap in my hair
tangled in blotchy sheets
you ate all the heroin like a pig
I closed my eyes every time you pricked me
I'm not afraid of needles anymore
a cloud of heat followed me with lady h and my mind glistened like pink Sahara pools
I dreamt of Swarovski diamonds while
I missed work 1,2,3 times and when I woke up time had still crawled by
I still need someone
but I don't need you
a demon black as tar
brown as Mexican mud
tells me another visit to your drug room can wipe the gray slate and silence my suffering
with a little too much in the syringe
eyes wide shut
my blood is very very red
my lips are very very purple
