Bruised Not Broken
Feeling worthless,
Feeling like a lost cause,
Feeling failure,
I hadn’t felt before.
Forgot a millions of blessings
Against one curse,
Forgot the victories won,
Against one loss,
Became ungrateful within a spur….
Tides were to come,
Meant to wash me away,
I didn’t disappoint,
Losing at the first wave,
Broken down,
In this sparkling town…
Waking up in the middle of the night,
Which had been a sleepless plight,
I realize…
I assure…
Lost cause, I am not,
Failure, I am not,
A minor setback maybe,
But it is not tumblin’ down
I might be two squares, maybe two rows back,
But not back to square one,
I have lost one battle,
But there are millions to come.
Not going to lose hope,
Not going to give up,
Will fight till my last breath,
Become the best I can,
You might have bruised me,
But I am not broken.
