To Innocence; A Girl Playing in The Mud
I use to drape scarves around my shoulders,
and build houses out of cobwebs
and fortresses of blankets beneath dining room tables.
I would weasel through old book stores,
sniffing my way through worlds
in a times new roman
10-font barricade.
I’d leave the four-walled house on Mystic
to a place where clouds fogged the anxious minds,
leaving the seasons to wither on my trail
with forsaken leaves scattered among empty hallways.
