To: Being Happy
And yes, sooner or later, I’ll have to come to terms with my undying sadness and how it wraps itself around my lungs,
polluting my veins so they swell and protrude from beneath my paper skin.
I’ll come to terms with my thoughts,
how they jumble and squirm like a soul placed under a white light.
My lost words will have collected themselves
and the letters will settle
and all will be clear.
***
There is a note, sharp and curved
which everyone has heard
I await its call still
to a day where the hole in my chest doesn't swallow me entirely.
