And I Love You For That
I feel a throbbing beneath my thumb
Sweep it across your neck
There is a time and place for everything
It was you who taught me that
Your pulse quickens and I shift against you
Aspirations intertwined
Worries you'll leave no longer plague me
I left that all behind
And when our lips meet it's as if to signify
We'll be here for as long as the rest of our lives
And when our hearts beat it's as if to rectify
Any past mistake that we were quick to push aside
I open my eyes and find you've beat me to it
And I know you know everything ugly
And I see that you've made the average parts pretty
And I love you for that
I twist my neck to the side and feel the realness of your hands
And I guess that you set out with intention
And I suppose that one day you'll ask for redemption
And I love you for that
I feel your veins palpable beneath my fingers
And I still think I'm clinging to the breeze
And I can't help but think that you're not reality
And I love you for that
I love you for everything you've seen of me
I love you for everything you've become to me
I love you for everything that's become of me
And I love you
