Red lining
Bleeds through my skin
Bright yellow, neon
Mixed with tabs of green
Layer my eyes
Bruises come up from my ankles
Black smudged lines across my cheeks
My feet planted, foot between
Sweat coming from my forehead
Hair in a french braid
Strands lie in my face
Bouncing back and forth on my feet
The clash of the bat, on the ball
The swish sound, as I round 'em bases
The ball thrown home
Catcher jumps in the air
My body jumps on its stomach
Ball hits inside her mitt
She comes down as my hand
Slides right underneath her
"SAFE" the ump calls
I lay there for a minute
While I embrace
My first in the park home run
