Another Victim of Conformity

eyes
a pair
peaking out from behind a fence
the blues and yellows of their days
long scene faded and forgotten
Hands
Scared and red
clutching a post
waning
waiting to be free
the eyes
once bright and hopeful
fade
the hands
once so sure, so strong
let go of their grasp
fingertips lingering for a second
then fading away into shadow
