With posies in her pocket
She skips
With each jump her hair sways
And flips
Clouds of ashes coat the sky
Heavy they fall
And heavy they die
Without a care she continues
Skipping and swaying
Til she is shot down
Smiling and praying
For a better world she laughs
as the bomb bursts in her ears
her eyes cast
a glazed over glance at the giants
A blast
Comfort in the sound
Of nothing at last

Though, I've never experienced this, something in your poem made me think about my past. I keep going back to this, and reading it again and again. I know I've commented ont his before, but I have to say it again. Your poem is wonderfully written. Thanks for sharing this!
