Heaviness
My heart is heavy
My spirits weak
And my self-esteem weakens with every step.
My bones ache, exhausted,
My will to go on leaks out
Replenished only by late night strolls
Through the graveyard.
Daylight and happiness drain me
Of everything I once knew
Everything I know
Everything I have yet to learn.
They are skilled burglars.
I do not belong in the light.
I have grown up in the dark
Learned of the dark
Befriended the dark.
We are close as family, the dark and I,
Bound for eternity.
