Listen my children, and a fire shall burn,
In your souls
For years to come;
When you shall hear of the fearlessness,
Of Revere and Dawes and countless others.

The good Dr.Warren of the Sons of Liberty,
Summoned Revere and Dawes to hear
Of his plan of Liberty and Freedom;
“Warn Hancock, and Adams at Lexington;
And awaken every farm like a fiery beacon.”

Two trusty friends row Revere across the Charles,
Who jumps onto the shore and straddles the horse
Of another staunch Patriot, this time Deacon Larkin;
He casts one glance to ensure that his signal,
“The British are marching!” was seen by all.

Just in time, did Revere arrive,
To awaken the Minutemen at Medford,
To advance on to Lexington for the Patriot leaders;
To press forward with Dawes and Prescott,
And secure arms and ammunition for glory and honor to America.

CAPTURED! At one in the morning,
And so was checked their victorious march;
Dawes and Prescott took flight in time,
And stealthily seized the arms at Concord;
Before the British even realized that “The Battle Was On”!

And so did Revere, back at Lexington,
Become the first to hear the “Shot heard around the World,"
Become the pioneer of the American Revolution;
To kindle the fire in thy hearts
For ages and centuries and aeons aforth.

The author's comments:
This poem serves to accurately give details about the ride that Paul Revere, William Dawes and Samuel Prescott undertook to warn Americans that the British had come. It clarifies Longfellow's poem by giving due credit to the people who played an equally important role in the mission, as Longfellow's poem highlights only Revere's achievements.

Thanks a lot for the encouragement! I thought that it would be great to remake the old Paul Revere story, while also being accurate. Hope you enjoy my other work too!

Words are tools; to educate, support, mend, and express. They shouldn't be used to break down each other's minds... they should be used to fill the empty spaces in our heads with insight, in order to see what most eyes can't.

Hey, you actually made history interesting for me! Good work!
