the little boy
the little boy
sat all alone.
his teacher says
'go play.'
he doesn't look up.
the little boy
sits all alone.
he hums softly,
so quiet,
to his favorite song.
it's an old one.
one his mother used to sing.
the little boy
is sitting all alone.
he looks up,
counting the branches
of the closest tree.
a little girl stands alone
watching a lonely boy.
he is looking down
so she walks over.
the little girl sits.
the little boy
isn't sitting alone.
he looks over
to see her
counting branches.
"There's 65 on that one,"
he whispers to her.
she smiles and so does he.
That was the begining of our friendship.
