On Turning 13
The day I turned 13 was the day I changed.
The day the child inside ran away,
and a new me evolved.
A new way of thinking, a new way of solving.
A new way of being me.
The day I turned 13 was the day
that my second life began,
the life with responsibility,
with choices, and chores,
with no room for mistake.
The day I turned 13 was the day
my previous self died,
the day my entire life changed.
The day I turned 13 was the day
that put my life to sleep
and opened my eyes to a new world.
