I Remember
I remember
Voices,
People,
Lights,
Cloudy mornings,
Deep blue nights,
Eerie shadows,
Tears of fright,
And, of course,
Tears of delight.
I remember
Warm brown eyes,
And what love beyond them lies,
With what gentleness she spoke -
You can't forget when someone dies.
You learn that memory is all
That you have left
When someone falls.
So I remember,
Always will,
Her warm brown eyes,
The way they'd fill
The empty sections of my heart,
And how the love she gave me still
Will help me never to forget,
And to be grateful, not upset.
I remember,
I remember.
What more is there left to say?
I remember what I can't forget.
Not tomorrow,
Not today.
