Burning Shadows
Fire burning through the night,
Smoke filling the air
The backyard is dark and desolate
Through the smoke,
I see shadows
of a familiar stranger
His face was graceful,
showing honor and peace
All previous desired childhood
memories are gone forever,
but never truly forgotten
I felt his touch
upon my shoulder
I can feel a soft amount of
familiar, immortal devotion to
him and his love
The fire vanishes,
along with his shadow
Embers sizzling and popping like firecrackers
The moonlight shining brighter
than the dying fire
Death was a feeling that
loomed around me in the darkness
